Major Delays Expected on Route 50

Stream restoration project to cause delays in Carnegie area.

Motorists who use Route 50 in the Carnegie area should expect extensive delays for the next week while major work is done on a stream relocation project.

The long-term road closure of Route 50 began Friday night and will continue until Aug. 22.

PennDOT said crews from Allison Park Contractors are working closely with ALCOSAN to perform a $600,000 stream restoration project in the area.

The work will happen between Hope Hollow Road and Chestnut Street. PennDOT is suggesting people use Greentree Road and Forsythe Road as a detour. The roadway will only remain open for local traffic and emergency vehicles.
