I-79 Lane Closures at Bridgeville End Friday

All long-term restrictions near Bridgeville will be lifted by 6 a.m. on Friday.

The long-term single lane closures currently in place on I-79 near the Bridgeville exit will be removed on Friday morning. All long-term restrictions will be lifted by 6 a.m. on Friday. will also reopen.

In its place, short-term lane closures will remain in effect Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m, and from 7 p.m. Friday and to 6 a.m. Saturday. There will be continued short-term lane closures during the week from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Long-term restrictions have to allow crews to repair and resurface bridge decks at the interchange. thanks motorists for their patience and cooperation while these improvements occurred.

For the remainder of the project through late November, only temporary, short-term overnight and weekend restrictions will occur. Some daylight work may also occur from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays. Overall work will conclude in summer 2012.

The $2.6 million project includes repairs on three bridges, overlays, joint sealing, concrete roadway patching, sign and guiderail upgrades and other improvements on 3.7 miles of I-79 from Washington County to half a mile north of the Bridgeville interchange (Exit 54). Swank Construction Company, LLC of New Kensington, PA is the prime contractor.
