Collier Township's Manager Resigns

Gary Vituccio worked as the municipal manager for two years before resigning Friday.

Collier Township Manager Gary Vituccio resigned from his position Friday, prompting municipal officials to immediately begin searching for his replacement.

Collier Commissioner Bob Schuler said Vituccio resigned over “personal things” and that there was no animosity between the two sides. However, Schuler said he was not surprised by Vituccio’s decision to leave.

“He certainly is a good fellow and works hard at his job,” Schuler said.

Vituccio joined two years ago after previously working as the manager for Kennedy Township. The commissioners are expected to formally accept his resignation Wednesday night.

The township’s administrative staff is now pulling resumes received during the search for a manager two years ago. They will also contact consultants to help them find candidates who would easily transition into the municipality.

“There were a number of good candidates last time,” Schuler said. “It’s a question of who is available … and fits into the township.”

Until a candidate is selected, the staff and commissioners will perform the daily duties typically done by the township manager.
