Collier Township News & Notes

Township officials met Wednesday to discuss several issues.

The met Wednesday night for their monthly workshop meeting. The commissioners voted to purchase a new police vehicle, although the remainder of the meeting was to discuss potential agenda items for the voting meeting in two weeks. The next meeting will be Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. inside the municipal building.

  • Three members of Collier’s public works crew and their union representative met with the township commissioners for about 10 minutes before Wednesday night’s workshop meeting. The grievance hearing was over the continued contract stalemate between the two sides.
  • The name of the former military base Nike Site has been changed. The parks and recreation board decided to rename the area the Collier Township Community Park in order to give it a more local atmosphere.
  • The commissioners are beginning discussions over the 2012 budget. said he is talking to each department about their funding needs before putting together a preliminary budget. The 2012 budget must be passed by the end of December.
