is winding down and expected to be completed by the end of the month.

All lanes should be reopened in a couple of weeks and the borough is now ordering bushes and other plants where the trees used to stand. said they will plant shamrock hollies, big blue lily turf and black eye susans.

“We can’t put trees in because the planting beds are too shallow,” Collins said. “We’d end up with issues like we had before. “We’re happy about get everything in. Maybe next year, some of the business owners can put some annuals in.”

The workers are also upgrading the numerous light poles that dot the street. Collins said the poles are still in excellent condition, but they’re replacing the wiring and upgrading the fixtures to use LED lighting. She hopes those improvements will eventually save the borough money.

“We’re painting them and they look brand new,” she said.

With the construction finally wrapping up, Collins praised the patience by business owners and motorists who have worked around the streetscape project for the past few months.

“A lot of work was done and I think they did a pretty good job keeping the traffic moving,” Collins said. “The businesses were great working with us. It was just a temporary inconvenience.”
