Bridgeville Councilmen Fend Off Challenger

Three Democratic incumbents now will face-off against Republican challengers in November

The three incumbent councilmen in Bridgeville and will move on to the general election in November.

Jason Sarasnick, Michael A. Chiodo and Council President Nino Petrocelli Sr. received the most votes Tuesday night. However, Petrocelli defeated challenger Joseph Mizia Jr. by just 27 votes, according to unofficial results.

The three winners will now face-off against the Republican nominees, Pasquale B. DeBlasio, Richard Krausa and Michael Tolmer, each of whom received about a third of the vote in their primary.

“I can’t wait,” Petrocelli said. “With our three, let’s hope we have a majority and continue to progress. There are always things to do in the municipality.”

Sarasnick, who received the most votes on the Democratic ticket with 298, said he would like to have roundtable discussions as they move toward the general election.

“It’s an honor to serve Bridgeville and to have the support from the community,” Sarasnick said. “I’m going to try to reach out to the people who don’t know me or know my views, and maybe I can discucss with them what I want to do for Bridgeville.”

Chiodo could not be reached for comment.
