Bridgeville Council Candidates

Six candidates are running for three spots on Bridgeville Borough Council.

 

Six candidates are vying for three spots on in the Nov. 8 local election.

The three Democratic incumbents are trying to fend off a challenge from three Republicans, one of whom previously served on the council.  All of the seats are for four-year terms on Council.

Michael A. Chiodo, 54, has been on council for eight years and thinks the borough has done a good job working to improve the business district’s streetscape. He added that one of the main issues facing the borough is getting business and home owners to clean up their properties to make Bridgeville more appealing for residents and outsiders. Chiodo is running as a Democrat.

 

Pasquale B. DeBlasio, 48, is a lifelong Bridgeville resident and businessman. He is a certified public accountant and provides tax and accounting services at his office in Bridgeville’s district. He previously serviced on the borough council a few years ago, and also has been treasurer and a member of the Bridgeville Parking Authority. He is running as a Republican.

 

Richard Krausa, 48, has lived with his family in Bridgeville for 14 years. He is a U.S. Army veteran and wants to continue his service by working on the borough council. He is vice president of the Bridgeville Athletic Association, which he has been a member for five years, and currently works as a mortgage banker for Dollar Bank. He is running as a Republican.

 

Nino Petrocelli Sr., 76, is council president and has been on the governing body for 24 years. He wants to continue improving the borough’s infrastructure to avoid costly problems in the future. Petrocelli also said the new public library that opened in Bridgeville earlier this year has been a boon for the residents. He is running as a Democrat.

 

Jason Sarasnick, 41, is finishing his first term on council and said he has worked hard to improve the borough’s recreation facilities. He pointed to the new bathroom and pavilion roof replacements at Chartiers Park. He wants to continue improving the business district’s streetscape, which he said will attract more people to visit. He is running as a Democrat.

 

Michael Tolmer, 42, was born and raised in Bridgeville, although his career has taken him to Michigan and New York. The fifth-generation Bridgeville resident returned home in 2007 with his family and is president of Chartiers Valley Youth Boys Lacrosse. He said he wants to offer his time and service to the community by working on council. He is running as a Republican.
