UPDATE: Waterline Ruptures in Presto

Crews worked most of Thursday to repair the 8-inch line on Prestley Road.

At least 10 homes in the Presto neighborhood of werewithout water for most of Thursday after a waterline ruptured on Prestley Road.

Collier police said Pennsylvania American Water notified them on Thursday morning that crews would be digging on Prestley between Thoms Run Road and the Interstate 79 overpass. Prestley Road was reduced to one lane for most of the day as crews worked on the waterline break.

The line was repaired around 5 p.m. Thursday, according to PA American Water spokesperson Josephine Posti. She said the drastic change of temperatures over the past few weeks likely led to the rupture of the 8-inch line.

“When it goes to one extreme temperature to another, it does impact the ground around the pipes,” Posti said.

She added that the affected customers would not have to boil their water after service was returned.
