Victim of I-79 Crash Identified

Mary Jean Contaldo, 69, of Carnegie was killed in Monday's accident.

The victim of a fatal, three-vehicle crash on Monday on Interstate 79 has been identified.

Mary Jean Contaldo, 69, of Carnegie, was killed after she was involved in an accident in the southbound lanes of I-79 near the Heidelberg exit.

According to a report from State Trooper Robin Mungo, Contaldo was entering the interstate from the on-ramp when she tried to negotiate a curve and lost control of her vehicle.

Her vehicle was facing east in the right lane when a white box truck struck the driver side of her car. In an attempt to avoid her car, the white box truck also struck a GetGo gas trailer, which was traveling south in the middle lane. All three vehicles came to rest in the grass median, according to Mungo's report.

Contaldo was pronounced deceased at the scene. The other two drivers were not injured.
