Thousands of Counterfeit Merchandise Seized at Trader Jack’s Flea Market

Collier Township police seized thousands of dollars in knock-off merchandise and pirated movie DVDs from three separate vendors at Trader Jack’s on Sunday morning.

Collier Township police seized thousands of dollars in knock-off merchandise and pirated movie DVDs from three separate vendors at Trader Jack’s on Sunday morning.

Police said they were called to the flea market off Steen Road shortly before noon Sunday after receiving a report of a man selling hundreds of pirated DVDs. They seized the DVDs and $180 in cash from the vendor.

Investigators said they plan to cite Kevin Walker, 50, of Pittsburgh, and a juvenile male with illegally selling the merchandise.

While there, police officers noticed another vendor hurriedly putting away his merchandise before he finally ran away from the flea market. Police said they went over to the stand and discovered numerous brands of knock-off perfumes that the vendor was selling. They took the merchandise, but were unable to locate the seller.

That led them to another stand in which police said three people were selling thousands of knock-off items and had more than $1,000 cash. Police said there was too much merchandise to immediately itemize.

Police said they arrested Dai Zhongming, 41, of North Versailles and Sun Liangle, 39, at the scene. Police are trying to find a third person from Ohio who left the scene.

Police said it’s not unusual for them to find counterfeit or pirated merchandise at Trader Jack’s. However, the quantity and number of vendors busted at the same time surprised investigators.

Pennsylvania State Police and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security are assisting Collier Township police with the investigation.

Ironically, we send our 'authentic' gear to be made cheaply in China while Chinese sell their own counterfeit gear to Americans for a better personal gain. Maybe we had it coming...
