Heidelberg police said they tried to stop John Perella, 29, of Collier, for suspended registration when he allegedly drove away from them around 4 p.m. on Nov. 1.

Police officers from Heidelberg, Collier, Scott and Bridgeville joined the chase and witnessed him crash into another car before careening into a yard near the 1100 block of Washington Pike in Kirwan Heights.

Perella ran from the car, but was stopped by officers shortly after. He was taken to St. Clair Hospital before being transported to Allegheny County Jail.

Perella faces charges of drunken driving, reckless endangerment, driving on a suspended license, hit and run, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident and fleeing from police.

DUI arrest: Valenda Nazarek, 33, of Pittsburgh, was charged with drunken driving and public drunkenness after Heidelberg police said she was seen staggering in a parking lot on Nov. 6. Police said she had just parked her sport-utility vehicle, and her behavior raised suspicion by police.
