Suspect in Custody Following Standoff in Nevillewood

One person is in custody following an early-morning standoff at a Collier Township residence.

One person is in custody following an early-morning standoff at a Nevillewood area residence.

Collier Township police Chief Tom Devin said they were called to a Hilltop Road apartment complex around 3:30 a.m. Sunday for a man who claimed to have hostages.

Police were able to take the 33-year-old man into custody around 8 a.m. at the Waterford Nevillewood apartment complex. Devin said he did not have hostages, but he was taken to an area hospital for a mental evaluation.

Devin said charges would be filed against the man. It’s not known what prompted the standoff with authorities, but police are continuing to investigate.
