Scott Township Man Accused of Sex Assault Pleads to Lesser Charge

Christopher Pancari pleaded no contest to one misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of a child earlier this month and was sentenced to one year of probation.

The Scott Township man accused of sexually assaulting a teenage girl pleaded no contest to a lesser charge.

Christopher Pancari, 44, pleaded no contest to one misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of a child earlier this month and was sentenced to one year of probation, according to according to online court records.

Scott police arrested Pancari in July 2011 and accused him of trying to molest a teenage girl on multiple occasions over a three-year period. He was charged with two counts each of rape, aggravated indecent assault, attempted rape, indecent assault and one count each of endangering the welfare of a child and corruption of minors.

District Judge Gary Zyra dismissed all the charges against Pancari during his preliminary hearing the following month. However, investigators re-filed the charges and Pancari has been awaiting trial since August 2012.

The Allegheny County district attorney’s office did not say what went into the negotiations for the plea agreement. Scott Township police did not have a comment on the agreement.
