Police Say Man Was Drunk at His Public Drunkenness Hearing

Greentree teen now faces another public intoxication charge.

said a Greentree teen was drunk when he showed up for his preliminary hearing on an earlier public drunkenness charge.

Patrick Voke, 19, was charged with public drunkenness on May 20 and his hearing had been delayed several times. But on Sept. 28, Scott police said he appeared to be drunk at the hearing before .

His preliminary hearing was promptly rescheduled for Oct. 26.

Scott police wrote in the new public drunkenness citation that Voke was “under the influence of alcohol, and was a danger to himself and others” at the hearing.

Scott police Sgt. Steve Fury said it’s not unheard of for a defendant to come to a hearing intoxicated. In fact, Scott police said they charged Bryan Brentin, 38, of Heidelberg, with public drunkenness at his preliminary hearing the next day.

However, Fury noted the irony of Voke's case.

“He was cited for public drunkenness and he came to the hearing drunk,” Fury said.
