Thief Steals Copper From Live Wires

The thief took the copper from a live electric wire in Scott

A “dangerous” plan to steal 100 feet of live electrical wires netted more than $4,000 worth of copper, Scott Township police said.

“They were live wires, so they had to know what they were doing not to get electrocuted,” Scott police Sgt. Al Ballo said. “It was very dangerous.”

The thief took the copper wire Saturday from Building D at 98 Vanadium Road, police said. Investigators estimated the 100 feet of copper wiring would net $4,000 to $8,000 if sold at a scrap yard.
