Someone stole 5,000 pounds of scrap metal from a local business.

Scrap metal stolen: More than 5,000 pounds of scrap metal was reported stolen from Trux Transportation on Oct. 18. The Mayer Street business said the scrap metal, which is worth about $2,000, was stolen over the past few weekends.

Business theft: A nearly month-long investigation of a theft at a Collier Township business led to the arrest of an employee. Collier police said on Sept. 27, someone tried break into the cash register at Hamlin’s Automotive on Mayer Street, but couldn’t get inside the machine and instead took about $400 from various cans. Police charged Dylan McNemar, 19, of Upper St. Clair, with theft, criminal attempt, false report to law enforcement and criminal mischief.

Vehicle break-in: A resident living on Krieger Lane told police someone broke into his car on Oct. 18 and stole a drill, circular saw, nailer, propane set and an iPod.

Retail theft: Stefon Dixon, 19, of Pittsburgh, was charged with retail theft, criminal conspiracy, receiving stolen property and corruption of minors when Collier police said he tried to steal boxer shorts from Kmart on Oct. 13. Police also said they detained juvenile, who was with him at the time.

Stolen iPhone: Heidelberg police charged Justin M. Penatzer, 24, of Scott, with unlawful taking of lost property. Police said he took a cell phone that was mistakenly left on the counter at Walgreen’s, and later reprogrammed the voicemail message.

Drug bust: Wallace E. Brown, 49, of Bridgeville, was charged with various drug violations after Heidelberg police said they found crack cocaine and marijuana in his car during a traffic stop on Oct. 22. Two passengers in the car, Chad Long, 36, of Canonsburg, and Antone Lee Dean, 46, of Heidelberg, will also be charged with various narcotic violations police said.

 

Prowler arrested: Scott Township police said they charged Edward D. Bird, 45, of Canonsburg, with harassment, loitering and prowling after officers said he was seen outside his ex-girlfriend’s residence on Oct. 22.

Domestic dispute: Lawrence Ciptak, 49, of Scott, faces assault and harassment charges stemming from an argument on Locust Street on Oct. 20, township police said.

Theft charge: Scott Township police said they plan to charge Cody Baum, 22, of Carnegie, with stealing money and medication from a purse on Oct. 18.

Underage drinking: Alexander A. Norelli, 18, of Scott, and Rachel S. McCafferty, 18, of Beckley, W.Va., were charged with underage drinking on Oct. 22 following a traffic stop on Main Street. Scott police said Norelli also will be charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Television stolen: A flat screen television was stolen from Walmart on Oct. 23, Scott police said.

DUI arrest: Grant Gauthier, 50, of East Carnegie, was charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance on Oct. 20 after Scott police said he was involved in a crash on Bell Avenue.

Public drunkenness arrest: Charles Tigner, 51, of Scott, was charged with public drunkenness on Oct. 23 following an argument with his Carothers Avenue neighbors, township police said.
