No Students Injured in Chartiers Valley School Bus Accident

A car plowed into the rear of the Chartiers Valley primary school bus Monday afternoon on Route 50 between Scott Township and Heidelberg.

A car crashed into the rear of a Chartiers Valley school bus Monday afternoon, but no students were injured and the vehicle was able to finish its routes.

A witness told Chartiers Valley Patch that they saw the car stuck beneath the rear of the bus on the Route 50 bridge between Heidelberg and Scott Township shortly after 4 p.m.

Superintendent Brian White Jr. said no primary school students on Bus 36 were injured. He added that transportation director Michael Mazzeo Jr. went to the scene and found the bus to be undamaged before clearing it to finish dropping students off to their homes.

A parent whose daughter rides the bus said she became concerned when the bus was running later than usual. She called the transportation department and learned about the accident, although she was not able to gather many more details.

Scott Township police Chief Jim Secreet called the crash “minor.” However, there was enough damage to the car that it had to be towed from the scene.
