Men Accused of Stealing Scrap Metal Waive Charges to Court

Two men accused of stealing scrap metal from a Scott Township industrial park waived their charges to court in lieu of a hearing scheduled for May 16 before District Judge Gary M. Zyra.

John Lonnett, 45, of Ellwood City and Shawn Eperthener, 27, of Carrick, were each charged with theft Dec. 2 after they were seen leaving Super Mill Complex near Carnegie.

Matthew Eperthener, 48, also of Carrick, also was at that time and also was charged with theft. He waived his charges to court in April.

According to Scott Township police, the men had so much scrap metal in the trunk of their car that the rear of the car was nearly dragging on the ground as they drove away.
