A bookstore and two other shops located inside the Greentree Shopping Center were flooded early Thursday morning when a pipe beneath the sidewalk ruptured, according to news reports.

The hardest hit store in the Scott Township shopping center was Bradley’s Book Outlet, according to KDKA-TV.

Books and other merchandise stacked on the floor were destroyed, along with the carpet, according to the television station.

The Rite Aid pharmacy and Sherwin Williams paint store were also damaged when the 6-inch waterline, which apparently feeds the sprinkler system, broke around 5 a.m. Thursday, KDKA reported.

But the bookstore apparently got the worst of it. A manager of Bradley’s Book Outlet told KDKA he hoped they could make repairs and be open by Friday morning.
