Firefighters Quickly Snuff Out Blaze

Three departments responded to an early-morning house fire in Scott Township.

Firefighters from three departments responded to a blaze that started in a basement extension inside a Scott Township home.

The fire began shortly before 2 a.m. Thursday in the basement area of 1556 Orchard View Road, but firefighters were able to keep it from spreading the rest of the residence.

East Carnegie Deputy Fire Chief Adam Kauer said it began in what appeared to be a sealed-off underground addition beneath the living room. The home sustained only minor damage, but Kauer said β€œit had very good potential of being something.”

Kauer said an Allegheny County fire marshal initially pinpointed the cause as electrical.

A firefighter from the suffered some fatigue and was taken to St. Clair Hospital, where he was treated and released. also assisted in fighting the blaze.
