Fallen Tree Causes Power Outage on Route 19

Crews hoped to restore power near South Hills Village Mall by 2:30 p.m.

A fallen tree has caused a major power outage in Upper St. Clair and Bethel Park this Friday.

The outage began at 10:51 a.m. and is affecting 650 customers, according to West Penn Power.

Bethel Park police told Patch the outage is affecting the "whole north end of Bethel Park."

A number of traffic lights are out along Route 19 and Fort Couch Road. Motorists are advised to use caution.

Businesses in Norman Centre II are without power. is being affected by the outage as well—its internet is not working—but the mall is still open.

Crews have removed the fallen tree and are working to restore power. They hoped to have power restored to all customers by 2:30 p.m.
