DUI Checkpoint Nets 5 Arrests

made five arrests and issued several traffic citations during their DUI checkpoint early Saturday morning.

Scott police Sgt. Steve Fury said they’re not sure how many cars passed through the DUI checkpoint on Greentree Road, but that they made two arrests for drunken driving and wrote nine traffic citations for summary offenses.

Fredric S. Miller, 35, and Richard Booker, 53, both from Scott Township were each charged with drunken driving, Fury said. Dillon J. Kasel, 18, of Canonsburg, was charged with underage possession of alcohol when Fury said officers found a beer can in his vehicle during the checkpoint.

Two other people were arrested for drug-related offenses, although Fury said police could not yet release information on those charges.

Officers from the South Hills DUI Task Force, which includes police from , , , Greentree, Castle Shannon, , Mt. Lebanon and South Fayette, assisted with the checkpoint.

Officers were stationed at the checkpoint in the 2000 block of Greentree Road from 11 p.m. Friday until 4 a.m. Saturday
