A motorist who may have been racing another vehicle on the Parkway West escaped serious injury after his car rolled over and it burst into flames.
State police said Jared J. Juristy, 19, of Munhall, was speeding shortly before 10:30 a.m. Monday when he hit an embankment and rolled over near the Campbells Run Road exit in Collier Township.
Juristy, who was wearing a seatbelt, escaped from the Pontiac sedan before it caught fire, state police said.
Firefighters from and responded to the crash and quickly extinguished the vehicle fire.
“We were dispatched to a vehicle rollover and while en route state police said the car was on fire,” Rennerdale fire Chief Dave Brown said. “Nobody was hurt.”
Investigators think Juristy, who was charged with speeding, was racing a green car right before the crash and are searching for that driver. Anyone with information about the other car is asked to call state police at 412-787-2000.
