Driver Injured in Rollover Crash on Prestley Road

A Collier Township man suffered moderate injuries when the car he was driving rolled over on Prestley Road near Bridgeville earlier this month. Read about that incident and more in the weekly Collier police blotter.

A Collier Township man suffered moderate injuries when the car he was driving rolled over on Prestley Road near Bridgeville earlier this month.

Collier police said Andrew Nemec, 21, had to be taken to an area hospital with cuts to his face when his vehicle rolled over shortly after 2 a.m. on Oct. 11.

Police said they charged Nemec with drunken driving and driving on the wrong side of the road following the early-morning crash near the Collier-Bridgeville municipal building line. No one else was involved in the crash.

Two people charged with retail theft: Two people face theft charges after Collier Township police said they stole items from Plato’s Closet before trying to return them for cash. Police said Samantha Dewey, 19, of South Fayette, and Robert Petrescu, 24, of Mt. Lebanon, took $26 worth of items from the Collier Township store on Oct. 14 and later tried to return them for a refund. The store workers told them to leave, but were able to get information on them. Collier police said they contacted them and the two later returned the items. Dewey and Petrescu face retail theft and conspiracy charges, police said.

Purse stolen from parked car: A woman who left her purse in her trunk while parked at LA Fitness on Oct. 18 returned from her workout to find someone had smashed her driver’s side window and stole the bag, Collier police said. The thief apparently saw the woman put the purse in her trunk and waited until she left to smash the window. On the same day, another person’s keys were stolen from an unlocked locker at the gym, although the thief apparently took nothing from the car, police said.

Minivan vandalized: Collier police said minivan’s rear window was smashed while parked outside a home on Arlington Avenue on Oct. 19.

Portable stairs stolen, sold for scrap: Aluminum stairs owned by a plumbing company were stolen while being stored behind Great Southern Shopping Center on Oct. 20, Collier police said. Investigators think the stairs were stolen so they could be sold for scrap.
