A woman stopped under suspicion of DUI earlier this month had to be hospitalized after Collier police said she fought with officers and suffered medical problems after allegedly mixing alcohol and prescription pills.
Police said a car driven by Melani Buck, 36, of Tarentum, was straddling the yellow line along Noblestown Road late on Dec. 6 and nearly hit a police cruiser.
Officers said the driver got back into her lane and was driving fast before police stopped the car on Pinkerton Run Road near Settlers Cabin Park. That’s when police said Buck kicked two officers and a paramedic.

She had to be restrained and an officer rode with her in an ambulance to St. Clair Hospital because she was “in bad shape medically” from the alcohol and pills, police said. It was not known if she suffered any physical injuries during the traffic stop.
Police said Buck will be charged with aggravated assault, DUI, resisting arrest, possession of drugs, criminal mischief and careless driving when she is released from the hospital.
