Driver Hospitalized After DUI Arrest near Settlers Cabin Park

A woman being stopped for DUI had to be hospitalized after Collier police said she fought with officers and suffered medical problems by allegedly mixing alcohol and prescription pills.

A woman stopped under suspicion of DUI earlier this month had to be hospitalized after Collier police said she fought with officers and suffered medical problems after allegedly mixing alcohol and prescription pills.

Police said a car driven by Melani Buck, 36, of Tarentum, was straddling the yellow line along Noblestown Road late on Dec. 6 and nearly hit a police cruiser.

Officers said the driver got back into her lane and was driving fast before police stopped the car on Pinkerton Run Road near Settlers Cabin Park. That’s when police said Buck kicked two officers and a paramedic.

She had to be restrained and an officer rode with her in an ambulance to St. Clair Hospital because she was “in bad shape medically” from the alcohol and pills, police said. It was not known if she suffered any physical injuries during the traffic stop.

Police said Buck will be charged with aggravated assault, DUI, resisting arrest, possession of drugs, criminal mischief and careless driving when she is released from the hospital.

ONE WAY TO CUT DOWN ON DUI DRIVING IS TO KEEP THE CAR AND SELL IT AT AUCTION. DRIVERS WOULD HAVE TO BE FOUND GUILTY . IT DOESNT MATTER IF ITS YOUR CAR, YOUR EMPLOYERS CAR, YOUR MOTHER CAR, OR YOUR BROTHERS CAR. THE CAR GETS IMPOUNDED UNTILL YOU ARE FOUND GUILTY OR NOT GUILTY.THINK ABOUT THE LIVES THAT WOULD BE SAVED.THE CRIME OF DUI DOESNT MEAN MUCH TO FAR TO MANY PEOPLE. LOSE A LOVED ONE BY DUI AND YOU MIGHT AGREE WITH ME.KEEP THE CAR , THAT WILL CUT DOWN BIG TIME DUI.

JAUN that's a great idea , but a better way would be to have a court system that actually works and punishes criminals and not just slap them on the hands

Jaun, that is a great idea. However, I fear Clint Eastwood is right. Until the court systems actually punish those harder who receive DUI's nobody is going to learn. I've never had my car impounded ( I hope i never do) but, does it come up on your license? Could they not just go rent a car? Or borrow one from someone else? I personally, just do not understand how a person can have more then 1 DUI on their record. If the court system worked and actually punished those who drove drunk we may be able to cut back. The first offense ( from what I have seen, when people I know have received one) for a DUI is ARD, a fine, and a 30 day driving suspension. That really doesn't seem like a harsh enough punishment to me.

CLINT, YOUR RIGHT MY FRIEND, THE CRIMINAL SYSTEM NEEDS TO PUNISH TO NOT BE A BABY SITTER. PUBLISH NAMES LIKE WITH THE SEX OFFENDERS AND STOP PUSHING DUI'S UNDER THE RUG.
