District Court Rulings – 9/6

Court rulings by District Judge Gary Zyra, who oversees Heidelberg and Scott Township. District Judge Maureen McGraw-Desmet, who oversees Bridgeville, Collier Township and South Fayette, did not have preliminary hearings due to the Labor Day holiday.

Charges held for court

  • A felony receiving stolen property charge against Grady D. Thomas, 37, of Carnegie, was held for court. Scott Township police arrested Thomas on May 29.

Charges waived to court

  • Charges of conspiracy, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia against Bobby Poynter, 24, of Williamsburg, KY, were waived to court. Scott Township police arrested Poynter on Aug. 14.
  • Charges of access device fraud, forgery, conspiracy and receiving stolen property against Nita Kurtz, 50, of Carnegie, were waived to court. A theft charge was withdrawn. Scott Township police charged Kurtz on Aug. 22.
  • Charges of access device fraud, forgery, conspiracy and receiving stolen property against Heather A. Barton, 22, of McKees Rocks, were waived to court. A theft charge was withdrawn. Scott Township police charged Barton on Aug. 22.
  • Charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia against Frank Bowser, 32, of Scott, were waived to court. Scott Township police charged Bowser on May 15.
  • A possession of a controlled substance charge against Justin Kermann, 24, of Cecil, was waived to court. Scott police charged Kermann on May 20.
  • Charges of public drunkenness and possession of a controlled substance against Jesse Britt, 25, of Oakdale, were waived to court while a loitering charge was withdrawn. Heidelberg police charged Britt on April 21.

 

Charges reduced

  • A disorderly conduct charge against Shannon L. Hill, 18, of Scott, was reduced to a non-traffic citation. Scott police charged Hill on June 3.
