Read who got off the hook and who is heading to trial on the charges after their preliminary hearing with District Judge Gary Zyra, who covers Scott Township and Heidelberg. District Judge Maureen McGraw-Desmet, who covers Bridgeville, Collier Township and South Fayette, did not have any preliminary hearings this week because of Veterans Day.

Charges held for court

  • Drunken driving charges against Nicholas Wren, 23, of Carnegie, were held for court. Scott Township police arrested Wren on Aug. 25.
  • Charges of drunken driving and reckless driving against Norbert G. Schwartzmiller III, 39, of Pittsburgh, were held for court. Scott Township police arrested Schwartzmiller on July 21.

Charges waived to court

  • A retail theft charge against Marie Walleck, 36, of Canonsburg, was waived to court. Scott Township police charged Walleck on Nov. 4.
  • Charges of drunken driving, simple assault, disorderly conduct, harassment and several traffic citations against Amanda Stocker, 23, of Carnegie, were waived to court. Heidelberg police charged Stocker on Oct. 21.
  • Charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and driving without a license, inspection and insurance against Amey Smocynski, 33, of McDonald, were waived to court. Scott Township police charged Amocynski on May 10.
  • Charges of conspiracy, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia against Gina Ross, 21, of Scott Township, were waived to court. Scott Township police arrested Ross in November 2010 and filed the charges on Aug. 15, 2012.
  • Charges of theft, receiving stolen property and trespassing against Robert J. Ball, 23, of Scott, were waived to court. Scott Township police charged Ball on Oct. 25.

 

Charges reduced or withdrawn

  • Charges of simple assault and terroristic threats against Mitchell McBride, 50, of Carnegie, were withdrawn, while a harassment charge was reduced to a non-traffic citation. Heidelberg police originally charged McBride on Oct. 30.
  • Charges of simple assault and terroristic threats against Carolyn McBride, 58, of Carnegie, were withdrawn, while a harassment charge was reduced to a non-traffic citation. Heidelberg police originally charged McBride on Oct. 30.
  • Trespassing and harassment charges against Steven W. Stark, 24, of Scott, were withdrawn. Scott police originally charged Stark on Sept. 5.
