Charges Withdrawn in Local Drug, Assault, Traffic Cases

Updates from the court of Magisterial District Judge Gary M. Zyra.

The following is an update on court cases heard by District Judge Gary Zyra on July 18. Zyra oversees Heidelberg and Scott Township.

Charges were either withdrawn or reduced against three people charged for various offenses, including drug violations, assault and traffic violations:

  • Charges of possession of marijuana and use/possession of drug paraphernalia against James Serafin, 24, of Scott Township were withdrawn. Scott Township police charged Serafin on October 22.
  • A simple assault charge against Mark Mesagno, 50, of Carnegie, was withdrawn and a harassment charge was reduced to a non-traffic citation. Scott Township police charged Mesagno on July 8.
  • A traffic violation against Alfred Quevi, 46, of Carnegie, was withdrawn. Scott Township police charged Quevi on January 18.
Waived/Held for Court:
  • A forgery charge, as well as drug charges against Christopher Bolla, 54, of Pittsburgh, were held for court following a hearing before Zyra. Heidelberg police charged Bolla on June 3. Formal arraignment is scheduled for Sept. 4 at the county courthouse.
  • Richard Desimone, 38, of Pittsburgh, waived to court charges of DUI, driving with a suspended or revoked license, careless driving and a traffic violation. Charges of reckless driving and failing to use a safety belt were withdrawn. Scott Township police charged Desimone on April 24.
