Charges Withdrawn Against Woman Who Allegedly Left Grandkids to Go Black Friday Shopping

Charges were withdrawn against a woman accused of leaving her grandchildren in her car while she went Black Friday shopping at Walmart on Thanksgiving night.

Bridgit Bruce, 56, of Scott Township, was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of children in December after allegedly leaving them unattended at night.

Following a preliminary hearing May 30 before Magisterial District Judge Gary Zyra, the charges were withdrawn.

According to the initial police report, Bruce left the grandchildren—ages 5 and 7—in the car around 10 p.m. on Thanksgiving night while she went shopping at Walmart.

In November, Scott police Chief Jim Secreet said he and four other police officers were patrolling the parking lot when he saw the two children walking toward the store without an adult. The children asked a Walmart greeter for help finding their grandmother, and then police stepped in, according to the initial report.
