Bridgeville Woman Burned While Cooking Dies

Fire crews were called to her Bridgeville home Friday afternoon.

An elderly woman has died.

Gail Allender, 84, died Sunday in a Pittsburgh area hospital two days after her clothing caught fire while she was cooking, said. Investigators think she was reaching for a cupboard above the electric range when her dress brushed against the hot coils and caught fire.

King said the Allegheny County fire marshal is investigating.

said the fire did not spread inside the woman’s Hickman Street home when crews were called around noon.
