Bower Hill Firefighter Mourned

Firefighters from across the area came out Thursday morning to remember Bower Hill firefighter Bryan Pritchard and grieve together.

Several Scott Township fire trucks participated in a procession from the fire hall on Vanadium Road that snacked around nearby neighborhoods before returning beneath an American flag draped above two ladder trucks.

Bower Hill Asst. Chief Brad Lynch called Pritchard an “all-around great guy” who was always friendly and enjoyed being with the guys at the fire hall. He said Pritchard was happy about the transplant and eager to get back on the rig to serve the community.

“We’re doing OK,” Lynch said before the 11 a.m. funeral service. “We’re day-by-day right now. It’s tough losing someone so young.”

The firefighters are holding up, Lynch said, and leaning on each other to support Pritchard’s wife, Mindy, and the rest of his family.

“That’s just the brotherhood at the fire department,” Lynch said.

A burial service was held at a cemetery near Point Marion on Thursday afternoon.
