Bicyclist Loses Leg During Collision with Car

The accident happened Tuesday morning in Carnegie.

A bicyclist's leg was severed below the knee when he collided with a car in Carnegie Tuesday morning, according to the Post-Gazette.

The borough's acting chief told the newspaper that a video camera showed that the man made a sudden turn into oncoming traffic when he hit the front of a car and the windshield on Mansfield Boulevard.

The man also suffered non-life-threatening head injuries, according to the report.

Allegheny County police are investigating and might charge the bicyclist. Witnesses told investigators the bicyclist seemed impaired.

The driver of the car was not injured.
