Crash Knocks Out Power in Collier

Another wayward trucker crashed into a utility pole in Kirwan Heights, knocking out power to countless homes in Collier Township.

The tractor-trailer crashed into the pole on Aylesworth Avenue near Neeb Street at 10:18 a.m. Thursday while trying to making its way to the in the industrial park. The driver, who was not identified, apparently tried to leave the scene and was arrested by police, said.

The crash, though, knocked out power in Kirwan Heights, Vandium Road, Collier Town Square and parts of Presto. Electrical crews were able to restore power to most of the area, but some pockets near the crash site are still without power, Lewis said.

This is the second time in less than three weeks that a trucker crashed into a utility pole after his GPS unit apparently led him astray. and his tractor-trailer was perched precariously on the snapped pole.
