Heroes Behind the Badge Movie Screening

Western Pennsylvania is no stranger to Law Enforcement Officers being killed in the line of duty, and sadly, Pennsylvania has ranked as one of the highest states for police deaths in recent years. In the last 4 years, in our region, we have laid to rest at least 12 officers. Since its founding in 2001, the Greater Pittsburgh Police Emerald Society Pipes & Drums has had the honor of performing at every police funeral in our area, as well as many funerals and memorial services around the country.

A new film being released this fall, shows the sacrifices that Law Enforcement Officers around the nation make every day. Heroes Behind the Badge is a documentary, featuring the brave men and women of law enforcement who put their lives on the line, some who survived and others who made the ultimate sacrifice. Directed by award-winning filmmaker Wayne Derrick, and narrated by Law & Order’s Vincent D’Onofrio, this film tells 7 stories of sacrifice and heroism that occurred last year, including interviews of family members and surviving officers.

The Greater Pittsburgh Police Pipes & Drums, along with the Bethel Park Police Department, is proud to host an exclusive screening of this powerful film, which will be released on DVD/Blu-Ray and not shown in theaters. The screening will take place Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 7:00pm at the new Bethel Park High School Auditorium. This special evening will feature Executive Producer Lt. William Erfurth (Ret.), who will be on-hand to discuss the film, as well as a performance by the Pipes & Drums Band. Tickets are only $15 in advance and $20 at the door, with half of the net proceeds going directly to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF).
