Updates to the small baseball field at Scott Park

Upgrades to the Scott Park Baseball Fields taking shape.

This Spring the Scott Township Athletic Association (STAA) undertook on the major project of making major renovations to the small baseball field at Scott Park.  This included leveling of the field by raising left field by 2 1/2 feet and lowering the infield by several inches as well. New french drains were put in place replacing the old drainage system under the field. There was also a new 175 foot sidewalk put in from the concession stand area all the way down between the fields to the restrooms for easier access for all.  This week new fencing is being put in place for the outfield which will be two feet higher than in the past as well as replacing the fencing down the first and third base lines. There also has been mulch added in the concession stand area to help improve the look but also help absorb water when it rains. Last year a new scoreboard was put in place at the small field and a new scoreboard was installed at the large field this Spring as well.  These improvements total close to $40K in improvements to our ball fields. The STAA is constantly trying to improve the fields we maintain for all the boys and girls who play with in our association.  A lot of the work is done by volunteers and is very much appreciated, without volunteers we would not be where we are today.  The hope is to start playing baseball at the field starting next week.  We are a couple weeks behind because of the weather this Spring but we are confident that the upgrades are well worth while.
