Comcast Boosts Internet Speeds, Hits 1 Million WiFi Hotspots

Comcast has announced two great benefits for local Internet customers: faster Internet speeds and more national WiFi hotspots.

The company has increased the speeds of two of its most popular Xfinity Internet tiers in the Pittsburgh area, at no additional cost to customers. This is the 13th time in the past 12 years that Comcast has increased its speeds. As more devices come online every day, Comcast is staying ahead of demand by providing faster speeds.

Blast customers will go from 50/10 Mbps to 105/10 Mbsp. Extreme 105 customers will go from 105/20 Mbps to 150/20 Mbps. With that increase, we are renaming this tier Extreme 150. Customers will simply need to reboot their modems to enjoy the increase.

Comcast also announced that the company has more than one million Wi-Fi hotspots located across the country. Comcast Internet customers have free access to these hotspots and with one million of  them, Comcast is giving customers more access to do more things on the go, like access social networks, leverage consumer clouds and watch TV everywhere.

Once a customer logs into a WiFi hotspot on their device, they are automatically logged in when in range of an Xfinity hotspot so they can enjoy faster connections and savings on data plans. To view a map of locations, see www.xfinity.com/wifi
