Real Steel is the Real Deal

Review of new movie Real Steel

Real Steel may be the best action movie that 2011 will see. Not only does it get your adrenaline pumping, but it also touches your heart with the relationship between Charlie and his son Max. The movie is about the new generation of boxing, with robots. Charlie is a washed out boxer who missed his shot in the league when robot fighting became popular. Max is his eleven year old son who hasn’t seen Charlie since he was a baby.

The movie starts out with a custody battle over Max since his mother passed away. Charlie ends up keeping the boy until August, when he is supposed to give Max to his aunt for custody. At the beginning Max and Charlie want nothing to do with each other, but when Charlie saves his life and Max finds a sparring robot named Atom, the relationship changes. Max, works with the technology and deals with the mechanical aspect of the bot, while Charlie trains Atom to become a top boxer.

Through many close calls and risky bets, Max and Charlie prove that their bot can be a top contender. Max even has the audacity to challenge the reigning world champ, Zeus, who has never went more than two rounds with any other robot, after Atom competes and wins in his first league fight. Does Zeus think this little bot can even compete? Will Atom prove them all wrong? Will Max and Charlie work out their differences and become family?

If you’re looking for a white-knuckled adrenaline rush, this movie is definitely the one you want to go see. With its fast-paced movie line and touching story you surely won’t forget Real Steel anytime soon. This is by far one of the best movies that 2011 will see. Take your family or your friend because this movie is geared towards anyone from 13 to 113. It’s guaranteed to leave you breathless and hoping for a sequel.
