Mini Majorette Clinic Planned

The Chartiers Valley Majorettes and Charvalettes entertain and amaze the fans during halftime shows for the football and basketball games year after year.

The girls, under the direction of Mrs. Cathy Jenkins, work extremely hard to perfect their routines for the halftime shows, band festivals, parades, and more. In past years, there has even been a Mini Charvalette program offered for the younger girls who may someday be interested in joining this talented group of dancers.

This year, however, a senior on the Majorettes has made it her senior project to host a Mini Majorette clinic. Jillian Zinski, Majorette captain, is planning to host the first clinic directed towards baton twirlers who may be interested in becoming a Majorette. The clinic is going to be open to all middle school girls, and it will be after school from 3 to 5 on October 17th through the 20th. At the clinic, Jillian says, they will focus on learning basic baton, ribbon, and dance skills, including Majorette commands and marching.

As a reward for participating in the clinic, the girls are invited to sit with the Majorettes in the stands at the Chartiers Valley Varsity football game on Friday, October 21st. Sign up and information sheets regarding the clinic have been handed out to all middle school homerooms, with extras in the office, and posters are hanging throughout the halls of the middle school.

Hopefully, if enough students participate, this clinic will be able to continue in futures years to allow for more girls to become interested in being a Majorette when they get to high school.
