Shouf’s Café Caters to Unique Tastes

Bridgeville eatery and coffee shop serves tasty Lebanese food

in Bridgeville has a split personality.

On one side sits a hip coffee shop that serves coffee and other light foods. On the other side is a fancy restaurant that offers gourmet Lebanese cuisine that you can’t find anywhere else in the area.

The food cooked up at Shouf’s is some of the most unique dishes I’ve ever tried before. There also is an extensive breakfast menu on Saturday and Sunday that would go well will a hot cup of coffee.

But the real attraction is the appetizer and dinner menu. Some of the items are a bit pricey, but they're worth the money.

The Moussaka was an interesting blend of vegetables and meat sandwiched beneath a creamy breading. The other dish, Chicken Shish Tawook, was very moist after being marinated in olive oil and garlic, and offered a large potion of poultry and rice.

The Lebanese dressing with a hint of lemon on a side salad was light and refreshing on a hot summer day.

Some people may have never before tried Lebanese food, but the menu is expansive enough to serve anyone’s taste. And there is a “Shouf’s Family Feast” entrée for $89.95 that serves cubes of Shish Tawook, Lamb Shish Kabob and Filet Mignon, along with side items for four people.

Shouf’s has been open for five years on the eastern side of Washington Avenue in Bridgeville. The restaurant initially sold only breakfast food along with the coffee, but expanded to a full menu three years ago.

It’s appealing for walk-in customers along Route 50, while motorists can park around back if they plan to stay for a while. The restaurant is open Wednesday through Sunday at different hours.

It should be a destination for anyone who wants to try something new or is just interested in a unique meal.
