A Goodwill store coming to Heidelberg is expected to bring a modern, new building to the borough—along with more than two dozen new job opportunities.
A ground breaking ceremony for the new store, which will be located at 1905 Washington Street in Heidelberg, was held Thursday, Aug. 29.
Representatives of Burns & Scalo Real Estate Services, Inc., which will develop and own the new store, along with local officials and representatives of Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania participated in the event.
The new store is expected to open in January 2014 and will employ 20 to 30 people. It will be the 32nd store operated by Goodwill SWPA.
The 14,500-square-foot Heidelberg store will have about 9,000 square feet of sales floor space and will feature a convenient drive-through, canopy-covered donation drop-off center. Keeping with Goodwill and Burns & Scalo’s shared commitment to the environment, the store will be built with sustainable products that will be measured and managed through Class-G.
“Our new Heidelberg store will represent the new look of Goodwill,” said Robert Stape, Vice President of Retail with Goodwill SWPA. “It will be a modern, energy efficient facility that offers a great shopping atmosphere for our customers to enjoy. Good clothes and good prices for a good cause – that’s what you’ll find at today’s Goodwill.”
