New Dick's Sporting Goods Store to Open at South Hills Village Wednesday

Dick's Sporting Goods will open its new relocated store in the former Boscov's at South Hills Village Mall this week.

Dick's Sporting Goods will be opening its relocated store in the former Boscov's this week at South Hills Village Mall.

The new store will open its doors on Wednesday, Oct. 17 and celebrate its launch with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, Oct. 19 at 8 a.m.

Special extended store hours will also be in effect for Friday (8 a.m. to 10 p.m.), Saturday (8 a.m. to 10 p.m.) and Sunday (9 a.m. to 8 p.m.).

There are also a variety of special athlete appearances and giveaways scheduled to celebrate the relocation.

On Friday, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders will be in store meeting and greeting customers from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Additionally on Friday, there will be a Mystery Gift Card Giveaway for the first 100 adults in line, who will receive unmarked Dick's Sporting Goods gift cards in varying denominations from $5 to $500, with one person winning the $500 card. Limit one per person and must be 18 years or older.

Saturday's schedule will feature a special appearance by legendary Pittsburgh Steeler Jerome Bettis from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

On Sunday, Pittsburgh Penguins radio announcers Mike Lange and Phil Bourque will round out the week's festivities with an in-store appearance from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. 

Additional appearances on Sunday include Pittsburgh Penguins mascot Iceburgh from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and professional bass angler Skeet Reese from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. 

Throughout the weekend, customers will be able to enter for the chance to win an Epic A35T Treadmill and a Nishiki Kinzua29 Limited Edition bicycle. There will also be opportunities for customers to meet with certified bike and lodge technicians and PGA/LPGA professionals, as well as additional activities throughout the store.

The old Dick's Sporting Goods store located behind the mall will close its doors for good at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16.
