New Events Coming to Farmers Market

A few new attractions are coming to the Bridgeville Farmers Market.

At least a dozen small business owners from Bridgeville’s main drag will be at Tuesday’s farmers market to “meet and greet” shoppers.

Liz Calabro, who helps organize community events such as the farmers market, said the vendors will be handing out informational pamphlets and talking with residents, but won’t be selling any products. She said it’s an opportunity to promote the many small businesses that are located throughout town.

“It’s a good way for the customers to meet the retailers in town and find out what they’re about without any sales pressure,” Calabro said. “And it’s a good way for retailers to shake hands with customers in our town.”

The farmers market is every Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the parking lot. The “Retail Days” events will be 5 to 6 p.m. on June 26, July 21 and Aug. 14.

“It’s just good, free advertising to them,” Calabro said. “We’re getting a lot of responses, so it should be kind of fun.”

Or shoppers can join in the President’s Walking Challenge. Anyone who signs up for the event at www.presidentschallenge.org can earn a T-shirt if they join in the 2-mile walk around Bridgeville on several Tuesday’s during the market season.

Calabro says the new events are proof that the Bridgeville event is getting better.

“We’re really looking fantastic this year. We’re building every year,” she said. “It’s fun, too. It’s a reason to come down and hang out.”
