Irish Pub Serves Up Plump Wings

Aiden's in Collier Township has affordable prices and great wings.

You would expect to sample bangers and mash while sipping good beer after stepping inside an Irish pub.

But at Aiden’s, located just off Thoms Run Road in Collier, you’ll find all of that plus arguably the best chicken wings in the ‘burgh.

Whoa, what? Delicious wings at an Irish pub?

It might be hard to believe, but Aiden’s serves up wings almost the size of drumsticks with some of the most unique flavors I’ve had around town. The wings – which are always 25 cents a piece – come in typical flavors of barbecue and hot, but also throw in some tasty curveballs that include bourbon BBQ and General Tso’s, among others.

Of course, there are more than just wings at Aiden’s Irish Pub, which opened earlier this year. The grilled lamb smothered with mint chutney is a must on the menu, and regular customers swear by the Reuben sandwich. There are also half-off appetizers and $2 lagers during happy hour.

The angular bar feels like it encompasses customers, and there are a few high-top tables sprinkled in for small groups. Just a few feet away is the cozy dining room that blends well with the bar area.

It’s hard to imagine that the pub is located in what used to be a fine dining restaurant at the foot of Nevillewood. Where a ritzy dining establishment ultimately failed, it’s a safe bet that Aiden’s will succeed with its affordable prices and friendly staff.

The pub won’t be serving up any specials Thursday for St. Patrick’s Day, but a band will be keeping guests entertained. And with the deals on appetizers and chicken wings, green beer revelers won’t going home hungry or broke.
