Bridgeville Native Brings Pet-Sitting Business to Hometown

Amanda Palmer Kutschbach has lived in Brookline for eight years, but she's soon moving back to Bridgeville, her hometown, and plans to expand her business there.

Amanda Palmer Kutschbach has been growing her business in the Brookline area for the past several years, and now the Bridgeville native plans to expand into her hometown.

Kutschbach, 32, is the owner of Smooches to Pooches, a full-service pet sitting business that is growing in the South Hills, and pet owners in the Chartiers Valley area can start booking now.

“I grew up in Bridgeville, so I’m really excited about coming back here and expanding the business to my hometown,” she said.

Kutschbach has lived in Brookline with her husband and three children for the past eight years, and the family plans to move this summer into the Bridgeville home that once belonged to her grandparents.

Kutschbach said it will be hard to leave Brookline after living in the area for so long, but she plans to keep her current clients and continue accepting new clients in that area.

“I’ll definitely miss living in Brookline. There are a lot of amazing people here,” she said. “Everything kind of fell into place though, and I’m happy to be coming home.”

Her business is focused mainly on pet sitting, and Kutschbach visits pets at their homes while their owners are at work or on vacation to feed them, let them out and play with them during the day. She also offers a dog-walking service.

Currently, Kutschbach said, most of her clients are in Brookline, Dormont, West Mifflin, the Baldwin-Whitehall area and Mt. Lebanon.

“A lot of my clients work long hours and need a little help, but I also do stops when they are away for weekends or vacations,” Kutschbach said. “I’m there for anytime the pets need help.”

A typical visit costs $15, but Kutschbach offered deals for repeat clients. Prices vary depending on the level of care needed, the number of pets, and the number of visits.

Information about services, pricing, and booking visits is available on the Smooches to Pooches website and the Smooches to Pooches Facebook page.
