Rock the Quarry XIII – August 23 and 24 on the Panhandle Trail!

Music, food, science demo, games, raffles, campfire, fun for all ages.

For over ten years, Rock the Quarry (RTQ) has been an annual tradition. RTQ features two days of music, food, and fun. Each year, RTQ showcases up-and-coming local musical talent. Day two of RTQ features lots of activities for the kids as well as the Grand Rubber Duck Race and the traditional Sunset Remembrance Ceremony.

We are still accepting applications for non-food vendors. Contact Madeline Fotovich at 724-693-0870 or send an email to kruffennach@gmail.com. Deadline Aug. 15.

DONATE GIFTS AND PRIZES

We would really appreciate your contributions for our basket auctions and other prizes! If you are a Panhandle Trail user, this helps support your trail. Any new item of whatever worth can be bundled into a beautiful basket. Items with logos are welcome as are gift certificates, unused gifts, whatever cash or checks payable to Panhandle Trail Assn. are also welcome.

Please drop off before August 18 so we can prepare the baskets to:

VOLUNTEERS

We still need volunteers for set up Wed and Thurs. Aug. 21 & 22, the event 23 & 24, and cleanup Sunday Aug. 25 8 am to noon.

Local businesses are welcome to donate items with their logo and we welcome groups of employees as volunteers before, during and after Rock the Quarry.

If you are able to contribute items or have questions, please contact Kay Downey-Clarke (724-693-0870) kayclarke@comcast.net to make arrangements.To ensure that we recognize all donors in our program, please let us know of your commitment by August 19, 2013.

ENTERTAINMENT AND ACTIVITIES

The Family Fun Zone from noon to 5 pm on Saturday will have science demonstrations, games and activities aimed at the kids. Also appearing both Friday and Saturday will be The Science Guy, Steve Reinstadtler.

Rubber Ducky Race (7:00 pm)
Sunset Flag Ceremony (7:05 pm)

And of course, a variety of food from several vendors will satisfy any appetite, and we are also inviting non-food vendors to participate. For vendor information, call 724-693-8635 or email panhandletrail@gmail.com.

Tickets for the Rubber Ducky Race, 7 pm Saturday, are $5 with a top prize of $500. Back also are the U-Choose Raffles with plenty of bountiful baskets to take a chance on as well as the moving Sunset Remembrance ceremony Saturday.

Location and Parking

The event is held in the quarry area along the Panhandle Trail in between the Walkers Mill Entrance at the trailhead and the Sunnyside Entrance entrance. As you approach the intersection with Walkers Mill Road, you will see directional signs for parking areas and entrances to the event. Please visit our Maps page for other maps of the trail.

Extra Parking in Collier Public Works Yard, Noblestown Road, 1 ½ miles west of I-79 Exit 57.
