The Perfect Dog For An Autistic Child
Perfect Fit Canines is a non-profit located in Pittsburgh that gives puppies training as service dogs plus specialized testing to accompany an autistic child.
I had the opportunity to interview Susan and Jim Wagner of Perfect Fit Canines for a feature article in Pittsburgh PetConnections Magazine. The organization is a non-profit located in Pittsburgh that gives puppies training as service dogs plus specialized testing to accompany an autistic child. While service dogs can be trained to perform hundreds of actions for and on behalf of their humans, Perfect Fit Canine's process actually studies each dog's innate abilities and personality and uses that information to match the dog with a child who needs the dog's natural abilities as well as its training.
Susan and Jim still work day jobs in addition to being puppy trainers and running the organization; it's totally a labor of love.
Read about them in the April-May issue of Pittsburgh PetConnections Magazine in "The Perfect Dog".

Why just a link instead of the entire article?
I am Chief Editor of Pittsburgh PetConnections Magazine, write several items for each issue and proofread and edit the entire issue, and am also the content manager of the website. The magazine's content belongs to the magazine, but I want to share all the animals-related stories I write. Sharing in this way works with the copyright and also gives you enough information so you'd want to read the article.

The article content of the magazine is not limited to events and things of interest in Pittsburgh, but articles are focused on the bond between humans and any companion animal, and in addition to standard veterinary medicine information on holistic and alternative practices.
Visit www.pghpetconnections.com to find all the information on the site and also to read the current April-May issue, which is 40 pages.
Also browse some rescued cats and kittens on The Creative Cat!
Each week I feature cats and kittens who've been rescued from various places and fostered because they needed a little help to become "adoptable"—they may have been orphaned kittens who needed to be bottle fed, may have been sick with a cold or infection and a shelter couldn't care for htem properly, or they may be senior cats who are the last adopted but who deserved another chance. Read their stories and consider adopting or fostering.
