Freya String Quartet

Listen Locally – Chamber Music at Carnegie Hall Does beautiful music played by talented young musicians in an elegant and convenient setting appeal to you? Then mark your calendar for September 24, 2012 at 7:30 PM as the Andrew Carnegie Free Library & Music Hall presents the Freya String Quartet  in the first performance of the concert series, Listen Locally – Chamber Music at Carnegie Hall.  This series of six lively, informal performances will feature great works of music by professional chamber ensembles from right here in Pittsburgh in the acoustically excellent, historic music hall located at 300 Beechwood Avenue in Carnegie. The engaging young musicians of the Freya String Quartet will start this new concert series with an evening of music by Dvorak, Shostakovich, Webern and Beethoven. You can meet the performers at a free reception following the performance. Warren Davidson, Slippery Rock University professor, conductor of the Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra, concertmaster of the Academy Chamber Orchestra and artistic director of the "Listen Locally" concert series is excited about working with the ACFL&MH to offer this series to Pittsburgh audiences. "This is a fun lineup of music from Baroque to Tango, some of Pittsburgh's most popular chamber music groups and some you might not have heard before, and all this in one of the very best performance spaces in the city. Plus, free parking!"  General admission tickets are $15 and may be purchased in advance at the ACFL&MH during library hours or at the box office that evening. Please contact Lynne Cochran, Event Coordinator at 412-276-3456 ext. 7 for more information.
