Thunderstorms Knock Out Power To Thousands

The storms seemed to skirt most of Bridgeville, Collier, Heidelberg and Scott, but left about 18,000 Duquesne Light customers without power.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning and watch for Allegheny County on Wednesday.

A warning is in effect until 3 p.m. and the watch is in effect until 9 p.m.

The storms seemed to skirt most of Bridgeville, Collier, Heidelberg and Scott, but left about 18,000 Duquesne Light customers without power. Duquesne Light spokesman Joey Vallarian said crews are working to restore electricity to affected areas, but did not know when everyone would have power.
