PennDOT Adjusts Prestley Road Construction Detour

PennDOT is changing its Prestley Road bridge construction closure point to allow additional access to nearby businesses, churches and homes.

PennDOT is changing its Prestley Road bridge construction closure point to allow additional access to nearby businesses, churches and homes.

Local traffic coming from Route 50 in Bridgeville will now be allowed to travel through the concrete barrier that is stationed at Journey Church and Cavanaugh Landscaping.

However, thru-traffic will not be permitted to continue through toward Thoms Run Road.

Construction on the Prestley Road bridge began March 11 and allows truck and local traffic through using a temporary signal. The bridge project will be done this fall and includes replacing the deck and bearings, structural painting and roadway improvements.

PennDOT is advising that the following access will be permitted to local traffic:

  • Cavanaugh Landscaping’s entrance from Thoms Run Road will be for large trucks deliveries only; the entrance from south/Route 50 will be for customers only, no large trucks.
  • St. Barbara’s Church has two parking lots/entrances onto Prestley Road. The northern entrance will have access from Thoms Run Road and the other from south/Route 50. Traveling between the entrances on Prestley Road will not be permitted.
  • Journey Assembly of God Church will have access from the south/Route 50 only.
  • Other business in the area including Lane Construction, Sew EZ Shop, Christoff Farm and Wood Waste Recycling will have access from Thoms Run Road only.
