Looking Back at the Week

A review of the top stories from the past week.

It was a quiet week in the area, but a few interesting things happened around town.

The former Wright’s Seafood Inn property will be auctioned off next month and Bridgeville police cited seven people for driving across the McLaughlin Run bridge even though it closed a week ago.

Meanwhile, we also had various feature stories about Trader Jack’s vendors and the Steelers playing a charity basketball game.

The former Wright’s Seafood Inn property will be auctioned off through a sheriff’s sale early next month. The landmark restaurant in Heidelberg, which was re-branded as Joe’s Ale House for about a month, closed in late January.

If you’ve lived in the area for more than a few months, then you probably know about Trader Jack's Flea Market. What you may not know is that Trader Jack's is home to dozens of local businesses, each one offering quality items and excellent customer service at bargain prices each week. They offer diverse goods from fine Italian foods to antique furniture to jewelry to vintage collectibles.

The McLaughlin Run Road bridge has been closed for less than a week and some motorists are having trouble coming to terms with the detour. Bridgeville police officers on Sunday wrote seven citations to people who moved the closure sign and then drove across the bridge.

The NFL lockout won’t stop the Pittsburgh Steelers from playing ball. But it won’t be the gridiron where they're competing Friday night. Instead, a few of the pro football stars will be playing against the Chartiers Valley faculty and alumni team in a charity basketball game to benefit pancreatic cancer research.

One of the reasons my family loves Benihana is because of the festive atmosphere. When you sit down at the table facing the grill, you just know something good is going to happen.
